जनपद इटावा का महत्वपूर्ण ऐति‍हासि‍क व दर्शनीय स्थल- आसई

आसई में पांचाल नरेश ने कि‍या था अश्वमेघ यज्ञ आसई को आशानगरी भी कहा जाती है। आसई का अस्‍ि‍तत्व बस्तुकत इटावा की प्राचीनता का द्योतक है। यमुना के बीहड़ों को काटकर बनाई गई पक्की सड़क एक सकरे से रास्ते से होकर आसई में समाप्‍त हो जाती है। गांव के नि‍कट पूर्व मध्य‍काल में बने दुर्ग के अवशेष्‍ा बि‍खरे हुये हैं। यह कि‍ला 1018 ई0 में महमूद गजनवी ने नष्ट कि‍या था। इस टीले को स्थानीय भाषा में खेरा कहते हैं। इस खेरे को देखकर वि‍श्वास नहीं होता कि‍ पांचाल नरेश शोण सात्रवाह ने यहीं पर 6600 बख्तेबंद योद्धाओं के साथ अश्व मेघ यज्ञ कि‍या था। आसई के अवशेषों के परीक्षण से स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि‍ प्राचीन काल से मध्यकाल तक क्रमि‍क रूप से यह वि‍परीत अवस्था में बना रहा। आसई की पृष्ठभूमि‍ इसे तपस्थल बनाने में अति‍ महत्व पूर्ण है। यहां बैदि‍कोत्तर काल के काले ओर भूरे मृदभांड प्राप्त हुये हैं। आसई में महावीर स्वामी ने भी अपने कुछ वर्षाकाल व्यतीत कि‍ये। जैन ग्रन्थ वि‍वि‍ध तीर्थकल्पस में इसका वर्णन है। वर्षाकाल (चतुर्मास) में एक ही रूथान पर रहकर चि‍न्तन एवं ध्यान की परम्परा रही हैं। यमुना नदी के सानि‍ध्यी की नीरवता महावीर स्वामी के एकान्त-मनन-चि‍तंन के लि‍ये नि‍श्‍ि‍चत रूप से उपयुक्त रही होगी। इसीलि‍ये आसई महावीर स्वामी को अत्यधि‍क प्रि‍य लगता रहा।

जैन मूर्तिकला का असुरक्षि‍त संग्रहालय जैसा है आसई आसई में नौवीं,दसवीं एवं बारहवीं शताब्दि‍यों मे जैन तीर्थंकरों की मूर्तियॉं बड़ी मात्रा में स्थापि‍त की गई। इन मूर्तियों पर मथुरा कला का स्पष्ट प्रभाव है। आज आसई अपने आपमें जैन मूर्तिकला का एक असुरक्षि‍त संग्रहालय जैसा है। आसई के लगभग प्रत्येक मकान में टीले से नि‍कली कोई मूर्ति अवश्य हैं। पौराणि‍क साहि‍त्य में आसई को द्वैतवन के नाम से भी भी पुकारा गया हैं।

A paved road is built by cutting the ravines of Yamuna and ends in Aasi proper. Near the village, the coastal areas of the fort built in the early medieval period are scattered. This fort was destroyed by Mahmud Ghaznavi in ​​1018 AD. This mound is called Kheda in the local language. Looking at this Khera, it is hard to believe that Panchal King Shon Satravah performed Ashwamedh Yagya with 6600 armored warriors on dominance. The examination of the remains of Aasi makes it clear that it has been built in an expanded state gradually from ancient times to medieval times. The establishment of Aasi is very important in making it a place of penance. Black and brown pottery of the Buddhikoti period is found here. Mahavir Swami also spent some of his rainy seasons in Asi. This is mentioned in the Jain text Vividh Tirthakalpa. There is a tradition of continuous contemplation and meditation on one river during the rainy season (Chaturmas). The silence of the Yamuna river would definitely be suitable for Mahavir Swami's solitary contemplation and meditation. That is why Mahavir Swami is considered to be very important in Asi. There is a saying in the Jain society - a hundred times in Kashi, once in Asi. Unsecured museum of Jain idols In Asi, idols of Jain Tirthankaras have been installed in large numbers in the ninth, tenth and twelfth centuries. There is a clear influence of Mathura art on these idols. Today you have an unsecured museum of Jain idols here. Almost every house in Asi has a statue taken from the mound. In mythological literature, Aasi is also known as Dwaitavan.
