Siddha Kshetra Drongiri is an ancient Nirvana Kshetra (place of salvation) which is proven by ancient literature, ancient caves, ancient Jain temples and sculpture art. In Nirvana Bhakti by Sri Pujyapad Swami, in Brihat Katha Kosh by Acharya Harishena and in Nirvana Kanda, Drongiri has been described as the nirvana kshetra of Sri Gurudatta and many other ascetic saints. Pujya Shri Ganesh Prasadji Varni has called this place as "Laghu Sammed Shikhar" because of the peaceful natural beauty, clean and healthy environment suitable for practice of penance and supernatural qualities and self development to attain salvation.
The large ancient cave, from where Sri Guru Dutt and others attained salvation, was chosen by Charitra Chakravarti Acharya Sri Shanti Sagarji Maharaj for meditation and penance in the year 1929 when he visited here. That night the lion came to his abode (cave), when he saw the ascetic saint in meditation, he stopped there peacefully without harming the Acharya and went into the forest the next morning. This incident has been described in the book “Charitra Chakraborty”.
In the stories of Guru Dutt and other saints the cave is said to be the abode of lions. (Aradhana Katha Kosh)
